The Concept

Private DSL is a secure, private network solution that brings together privacy and security with cost effective technology. By routing DSL traffic over our national private network companies are able to reduce the cost of connectivity and retain the same reliability as private circuit solutions.

  • The service uses L2TP (Layer 2 Tunnelling Protocol) - rather than being dependent on Layer 3 (the IP layer) - offering a higher level of management and security of the network.
  • If public Internet access is required at any of or all of the sites in the network this can be centralised at either the key end user site or one of the 186K data centre´s. This access can then be channelled through a single router resulting in the requirement for only one firewall with one rule set and not at each site further improving security and cost saving. This greatly improves security and Internet access control. Resilient connectivity options are also available on single access points or multiple.

Offering a PDSL solution is a fantastic way of managing your internet connections, restricting their access if they are home workers and controlling internet activity with one of our custom firewall applications which can be added to the Private solution. By taking the connection before the authentication to the web has completed, you can be sure of a top level of security and no internet interception can take place as the connection only ever leaves the 186k hub when you request internet access for any given client.

With the addition of a PDSL solution you will require support to configure options such as server connectivity, colocation and adding broadband accounts to the hub. Our support team are happy to assist where possible to ensure your PDSL solution runs exactly as you would expect. In addition to the usual weekday support all urgent requests can be handled by our out of hours support team who can create new profiles, change firewall settings and reboot servers if requested.
