186k ACQUIRES MAILBOX INTERNET
DOMINIC Marrocco has today completed his acquisition of London's premier ISP, Mailbox Internet, as part of his acquisition drive for 186k Limited, the broadband telecoms provider purchased from Lattice Group/NGT.
Respected and awarded alike for its commitment to excellence across all facets of its services; Mailbox will continue to provide broadband services to its 10,000 strong business and SOHO client base.
Dominic Marrocco said: "The acquisition of Mailbox Internet will provide a key gateway to allow a greater penetration of 186k's services within the heart of London and Southern England."
The multi-million pound deal sees Marrocco remains firm in his business strategy to acquire and build upon well-established ISP's across the UK. 186k is now rapidly seeing a wider - and more diverse - customer base as a result.M
Marrocco continued: "When we started out with 186k last October, we put in place a forward thinking business strategy, which aims to establish 186k as the IP partner of choice within the UK market. The acquisition of Mailbox Internet is yet another crucial step in the process to realising that goal".
186k boasts seven multi-million pound purpose-built data centres located strategically around the country. The option remains to move any associated equipment from Mailbox's current storage to one of these new locations.
Marrocco has confirmed that there will be no planned loss of staff in this acquisition.
186k LIMITED:
186k was formed in April 2000 by Lattice Group with an aim to become the leading provider of network services powering the UK broadband economy. To this end, it constructed a next-generation nationwide IP network, delivering cost-effective, secure, reliable, high-speed telecoms and data services. It was successful in attracting major blue chip companies, including Hutchison 3G who built their UK mobile network on the 186k infrastructure. In late 2002, National Grid Transco (the sole owner of Lattice and 186k) underwent a strategic review to withdraw Lattice from the altnet sector and divested its assets. 186k Ltd has the majority of the data centres with right to use options on the fibre network. 186k was bought in 2004 by Dominic Marrocco to use as a vehicle to drive consolidation within the converged communications sector.
